Opened in 1935 by Max Gordon, this basement venue has hosted many jazz greats like John Coltrane, Bill Evans, and Thelonious Monk, making it a cornerstone of the jazz world.
As you go down the stairs, you’ll find a cozy, dimly lit space filled with vintage posters and photos. The acoustics are fantastic and every note sounds perfect. The small tables and close seating create an intimate atmosphere.
Once the show starts, it’s all about music – no chatting, no photo or video during the show.
The tickets sell out fast, so get them as early as possible. You can try to get them at the door, but it’s tricky, especially for the more popular shows.
Seating is first come first served, so if you want good seats, arrive at least 30 mins in advance and be prepared to wait 20-30 mins outside.
