Ornithology

Located in Brooklyn on the border of Bed-Stuy and Bushwick, Ornithology is one of the most relaxed venues with a strong community around it to a large extent consisting of jazz students. It’s one of the most affordable places too. 

The program is a mix of established artists and younger musicians, which means you might enjoy some shows more than others, but it’s part of the fun. Sometimes you may end up listening to overzealous players trying to wear you down with endless be-bop solos, but that makes it even more pleasant to discover some up and coming star shining among dozens of other players.

Either way, the chill atmosphere makes it a pleasant experience regardless of who is playing and if you do not like the set, just go for a pizza to some joint nearby and come back for the next set and more drinks.

$0-10 cover at the door and drinks and food are cheaper than anywhere else.
